Arizona Road

Like a storm on an Arizona road.
That's how you drive me crazy.
Full of darkness and heat and
electricity smashing the sky.

Long open roads that make
you drive faster and push harder.
With those shrouds of mountains
always in the distance. A peak I
can't reach without the thrust.

Every bump. Every curve. Every
hole in the road is a threat at
this speed. Spit-on-a-griddle rain
sizzles off the road, shoving my
tires into a hazard.

It makes every nerve alive.
Everything in me pays attention
with my heart screaming at the
threats and my mind reeling at
the beauty of it all.

And with every mile I hum.
Got to get to the mountains.
